The breakdown
Reads & options
- 1.If the shooter's defender chases over both screens, curl the last screen into the paint for a short jumper instead of popping to the wing.
- 2.The two screeners can re-screen for each other if the first read is covered, keeping the same action alive.
- 3.Reverse the alignment so the shooter starts on either end of the line depending on your best shooter's side.
Coaching points
- Space the four players in the line evenly along the free-throw line extended so there's no dead space between screens.
- The shooter needs to change speeds through the staggered screens — walk the defender into the first screen, then explode off the second.
- Screeners hold their screens until the shooter has fully cleared, then release to fill space rather than standing still.
